Musician's Share Their Favorite Horror Movies
R.I- What’s your favorite horror movie?
Jenna Syde (Paradise Kitty, J.S. and The Watchers) - “My favorite horror movie… you know I love horror movies but I’m just like more into fiction movies in general. So the one that I would cross between the two would be Interview With A Vampire, Anne Rice is also my favorite author and in that movie I think Tom Cruise nailed it with that. So I think it’s like horror/fantasy or fiction, that’s more my thing. I love vampires and werewolves. Next would be Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
R.I.- What’s your favorite horror movie?
Britt Lightning (Vixen, Alejandro Sanz, Rachel Platten, Jaded) - “I have a confession. I appreciate horror movies and I like to watch them, but I have an overactive imagination and I spend a lot of nights alone in my hotel room on the road and I get so scared. If I didn’t spend so much time alone at night I would watch more of them, but I get too scared. So really I don’t know if I can give you a good answer on that because I really don’t like horror movies.”
R.I.- What’s your favorite horror movie?
Nikki Stevens (Teenage Ritual) - “Pet Semetary. I’m usually the one that makes funny jokes during the movie, maybe because I’m creeped out and I wanna lighten the mood. I really like comedies, I like horror movies too, don’t get me wrong. I can’t stay in that drama mode too long in my head where I freak out. The first Insidious was pretty scary too, that whole series. I like Nightmare on Elm Street too, if you wanna take it back.”
R.I.- What’s your favorite horror movie?
Ace Von Johnson (Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, Neon Coven) - “Of all time, probably The Shining. But it varies.”
R.I.- What’s your favorite Horror movie?
Courtney Cox (The Iron Maidens, Femme Fatale) - “I’m gonna have to say, and it’s really really cheesy, but Trilogy of Terror. The third one, with the little doll. Then the typical child’s play. I’m a huge horror freak.”
R.I.- What’s your favorite horror movie?
Nikki Stringfield (The Iron Maidens, Femme Fatale) - “That’s so hard. I don’t know what my favorite one is, I’m looking at my DVDs across the room. I’ve always really loved Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy is probably my favorite villain of all time. That’s probably it for me.”
R.I.- Do you like horror movies and if so, what horror movie is your favorite?
Mark Schenker (KIX, Sun Dogs) - “I don’t like horror movies, I was never a fan. I’m an avid reader and I always have and the things that are horrifying to me are real things, like the plague and the Spanish flu of 1918 that killed 50 million people worldwide. Those are real horrors. The genocides that have happened in the world in the name of religion or in the name of politics or whatever, these mass killings are true horrors. The trench warfare in WW1 is true horror, the massacres that Genghis Khan and the mongols endured on most of the continent of Asia, that’s a true horror. If you read about those events and think about what they would have looked like in real life, horror movies don’t do it for me. They seem to be set up in a way that, for me, is very predictable and the sometimes the stories are really good, don’t get me wrong. I’ve seen some horror movies with some unnecessary scare tactics, but that’s what the genre is all about, but the story was always really good, there’s a couple Stephen King ones I can think about, and a recent one on Netflix, The Haunting of Hill House was a really good horror show with an excellent story, but it doesn’t scare me, and it just doesn’t appeal to me as much as other genres do. But I will say this though, I do watch The Walking Dead religiously and it’s basically a horror movie, so I’m full of contradictions here. But for me it really boils down to the story. For me, watching horror movies have always seemed to be more about the scare than the story. I’ll take somebody I respects word of mouth when they say it has a good horror movie. I’m full of contradictions when it comes to the horror genre.”
R.I.- Are you a fan of horror movies, and if so, which is your favorite?
Chris Caffery (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Spirits of Fire, Savatage) - “I like them but I liked the older ones better like the Shining and the original Halloween. The new ones just aren’t scary to me. Gore is disgusting and hard to look at but it isn’t scary.”
R.I.~ Do you like horror movies?
Abby K~ “I have never seen a horror movie because I’m too scared to even try to watch a horror movie. I’m terrified of them. If I’m being honest, I was scared watching “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.”
R.I.~ What is your favorite horror movie?
Calico Cooper (Beasto Blanco) ~ “Oooh! I’m really down with the comedy horror right now so stuff like Cabin In The Woods was just so smart because it started off and I’m going ‘Oh god, this is awful’. I grew up thinking of movies as ‘Oh wouldn’t it be so funny if…’ and you know no one is gonna make that movie because the guys with the money are gonna be like ‘No.’ But they did it, they made the movie that I thought was incredible. I just saw Midsommer and I think that movie is the only movie I’ve seen that I saw it, I loved it, and I never have to see it again. I spend a lot of time in weird little towns in Europe and I was like ‘This could’ve happened to me.’ There was nothing supernatural about it which was the scariest part. Everything those guys do, Get Out was incredible. But I love the old cheesy ones too, my brother and I just sat around and watched like a 5 hour documentary on the making of all the Friday The 13th’s and sat through the whole thing. I loved it.”
R.I.~ Do you like horror movies? If so, what is your favorite?

R.I.~ Are you a fan of horror movies? If so, which is your favorite?
Jimi Bell~ “I am petrified of horror movies, I don’t like them at all. I’ve seen a few of them and I love The Shining. The Shining is great. Jack Nicholson is killer in that, I just watched it the other day. I like movies like Silence Of The Lambs, I like movies like that. I’ve watched that a thousand times. I’m also a huge fan of comedy movies, I like to laugh.”
R.I. - What’s your favorite horror movie?
Sophie Burrell (Guitarist, Youtuber) - “It’s difficult to choose, I love horror. I like anything paranormal. It’s hard to choose. The Conjuring movies: Annabelle, Conjuring, The Nun. I love anything in that whole series. They always scare me to death in the cinema but I love it.”
